Finale movement from Beacons, Composed for the Hodgson Wind Ensemble at the 2017 CBDNA National Conference
Live recording by the Hodgson Wind Ensemble

program note:

Polaris is the finale movement from Beacons, composed in 2017 for Cynthia Johnston Turner (to whom the piece is dedicated) and the Hodgson Wind Ensemble at the University of Georgia, for the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) 2017 National Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, hosted by the UMKC Conservatory. Polaris connects various themes from the first three movements of the larger work, but on its own stands as a fanfare-esque journey through bright timbres of brass and percussion, and a fast-paced salute to the first beacon of the night sky.
